What Does the Township Clerk Do?

Welcome to the official Green Garden Township Clerk’s page!

Our township clerk's duties revolve around record-keeping, election administration, and public
communication, all while serving as a crucial link between the township and its residents. Our
Clerk is the official clerk of the Board of Trustees, and the official record keeper for our
township, manage township meetings, and act as the local election authority.

Record Keeping and Administration:

Clerk Crissy Kraft maintains all township records, including meeting minutes, by-laws, and
official documents, except for active general assistance cases.

She records minutes of all township board meetings, including our new Workshop Board
Meeting, ensuring accurate records of proceedings, including all decision making and votes. In
the event of a tie vote to fill a vacancy on the Board of Trustees, the clerk can cast a tie-breaking
vote.

Communication, Public Notice, and Notary Witness:

Our Clerk is responsible for publishing and posting meeting agendas and notices, ensuring
residents are informed about upcoming meetings and decisions. She certifies documents,
attests to contracts, affixes the township seal to official documents, and administers oaths. She
also serves as a notary public, witnessing signatures for residents and township legal
documents.

CRISSY KRAFT

TOWNSHIP CLERK

Crissy Kraft has over 25 years of customer service experience along with running their family company, Kraft Custom, since 1995.

She has an Associate’s Degree in Science with a Paralegal major from Robert Morris College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Science with a Criminal Justice Administration major from the University of Phoenix. She graduated top of her class with honors from both universities.

She has lived in Green Garden since 2002 with her husband, Mike. They have three sons and one daughter, who all attend Peotone Schools.

They started their family business, Kraft Custom, in 1995, which is operated from their home in Green Garden.

She has been a certified Substitute teacher in Will County since September 2018 and currently substitute teaches for Peotone School District.
