September tasks

Board of Review Appeals

Continued work for first round of BOR appeals is in process.

Most BOR appeal in-person hearings have been scheduled in November

Much of the month was spent on BOR appeals and assessment changes as needed. Assessment Revision II changes closed October 8th.

Assessment Revision notices will be mailed out October 20th.

PAMS Training

  • Attended PAMS training in Elgin for one full day. Original cost to Assessor would have been in excess of

$2000. Negotiated training at no charge.

  • This is the first PAMS training in almost 2 years due to Covid restraints.

Frankfort municipality meeting

  • Met with Mayor Keith Ogle and staff to review building permit details and notification for the Frankfort annexed portion of Green Garden Township. Very productive and positive meeting was accomplished.

Assessor Office physical location

  • Sept 13th Township meeting – Assessor presented detailed summary report to all Trustees and highly recommended a vote be taken to approve the Insurance company office location for the Assessor office. Vote was not approved on the basis that Supervisor Murday wanted another viewing of the Fire Station office location.
    • Town Hall Committee meetings & results –

Initial meeting date of Sept 11th was cancelled by Supervisor Murday, rescheduled for Sept 20th.

Sept. 20th meeting and location of the Fire Station to view the offices again was changed by Supervisor Murday.

Instead, all finally met at the town hall on Sept 28th based on Supervisor Murday’s instructions to review two leases (Murday provided newly revised lease from Fire Station).

No agreements were made. Assessor and Trustee Kovar continue to agree on the Insurance company office and Supervisor Murday and resident, Sarkasian continue to agree on the Fire station office.

  • Assessor visited Ron Christenson’s retail office space to see if there was a possibility of that being used by the Assessor office. It certainly has plenty of space yet at twice the monthly cost of the other two options, it does not appear to fit into our budget at this time. Yet it could make a great town hall with a possible side for the Assessor at some future date.
    • Assessor distributed to each Trustee another Assessor office report for Oct 11th township meeting.
    • Appreciation – I would like to take a minute to Thank those Trustees, and many other both official and non-official individuals who have supported and understand the importance of being able to provide the Assessor office the staff and tools, including a physical office location to ensure fair and equitable assessments throughout Green Garden Township. Thank you!!
